What’s Your Best Pick for a Web Application Development Tool for ASP.NET 2.0?

Ray Linder reviewed the most popular products for easier web application development for ASP.NET 2.0 in Visual Studio 2005. The showdown included: ReSharper vs. CodeRush vs. CodeSmith vs. Visual Assist X.

Ray was of the opinion that, while other products provide nice gadgets and visual effects, ReSharper is the tool that actually speeds up your work!

    For a long time, ReSharper has been my absolute number one productivity tool.

    So in short, I agree with Ray.

    I, however, also agree with him that there’s some nasty issues in the current ReSharper builds. Fairly often I end up with unhandled exceptions coming from ReSharper when opening solutions and in the worst of cases, Visual Studio flatly shuts down when ReSharper’s intellisense does a lookup.

    Patience, sure, as the tool IS world class. But patience has it’s limits too ;-)
