Unfortunately, IDEA doesn't support external annotations for source files, only for libraries. Why isn't it possible to add dependencies on annotations jar in your project?

If the source to be annotated is part of the project, Idea wants to put the Kotlin signature in the source code as annotation.
This forces me to include the annotation and requires a dependency to the annotations jar. However in my project, such a dependecy is not allowed.
Can I tell Idea, to always put the annotation in the external XML file?

If Andrey is working on JSR-335 and Kotlin, is this not a conflict of interest? Making the JSR as bad or as late as possible could be e.g. perceived as a benefit for Kotlin?

KAnnotator puts the annotations in a directory for each library. However, this doesn't work well with Maven, where I'd just like to set a root and have all of the annotations under the same root. How do I make KAnnotator not include the library directory and just populate a common tree?
