Want cleaner UI and more effective workspace in RubyMine?

Some time ago we showed a quick video on how to make RubyMine UI clean and lightweight if you prefer it this way. With RubyMine 3.2 there’s a new option available which you should consider.

You may have noticed a small new button in the bottom left corner of RubyMine window.
It lets you have more space in the main frame and give more prominence to the editor by hiding the tool window bars.

With the tool buttons hidden you still can open oк access the tool windows using their numeric hotkeys, e.g. Project view with Alt+1/⌘ 1, VCS Changes with Alt+9/⌘ 9, etc.

But if you need to open one with the mouse (or forgot the quick access key), you can show the tool window buttons just for a moment. To do that, hit the Alt key twice (Command key on Mac), and keep it down — while the key is pressed, the tool window buttons are visible and can be clicked with mouse. Release the key — and they disappear again, leaving your main frame clean and spacious.

Try it if you have not done so yet!
