We’ve just made another RubyMine update available — RubyMine 3.2.4.
The main reason of the update is improved IDE performance. The improvements are made in Ruby specific functionality and also in the underlying IntelliJ Platform: memory footprint reduced for indexing JavaScript files.
If you are curious about other changes, check the full changelist.
Another noteworthy change is the addition of several new and update of existing editor color schemes, mostly dark ones. We’ve enhanced the popular VibrantInk and Cobalt schemes, and added some new ones such as Monokai, Blackboard, etc. Check all available schemes under IDE Settings | Editor | Colors & Fonts.
- Blackboard
- Cobalt
- VibrantInk
As usual, the new version is available for download on the JetBrains Web site.
Meanwhile, we’re working hard on the next major version and Early Access for RubyMine 4.0 will be announced soon. Stay tuned!
Develop with pleasure!

Sounds great! Will the IDEA plugin be updated to 3.2.4 as well?
Updated Ruby plugin for IntelliJ IDEA will be available shortly. Currently in QA
Will the plugin also contain the CoffeeScript & Sass that is present in RubyMine but not the plugin repository for IDEA?
А зачем тему рейлскаст меняли? Все же было красиво и гармонично. Теперь какая-то вся болотная, за счет изменения красного цвета.
great to hear!
i like the new color schemes very much especially blackboard but imo blue forest is one of the best color schemes for any idea based product.

Better performance is always appreciated and as a fan of dark themes I welcome the improvements.
Yes, Railscasts colors are very bad!!!
Solution:
1) In RubyMine 3.2.3 settings: select Railscasts theme and save it wth different name
2) Export Settings in settings.jar
3) Open RubyMine 3.2.4 and import settings
4) Voila
Nice update, thanks
.
Thank you. I can confirm startup doesn’t block the UI anymore. Great.
Very happy you’ve released this build. Those performance problems were doing my head in. Thanks!
yeah, RailsCasts color scheme became worse…
Anyway – thanks for release!
..and please – fix sass code completion in next release
please please please – fix sass code completion in next release. That and code navigation.
+1 to fixing sass
And also javascript highlighting in haml
+1K to fixing sass
And also sass color highlighting for colors from variables
I am glad to see a release for improving performance. Thanks!
Performance seems to be a bit better, but it is still slow as molasses and unusable for me =(
I have to say I think 3.2.3 was better.. Now I’m back to having to kill -9 rubymine several times a day like I had to pre 3.2.3.. It just hangs as it takes 100% cpu.. Think I might revert back.. this is killing my productivity..
Awesome. Rubymine is much more responsive and stable on my machine.
Is there a way to expand full node of text instead of click on each collapsed children node?
Is Rubymine still under active development?
Yes, it is. Please take a look on the last released version.
