IntelliJ IDEA 2018.3 Beta 2 is available!
We are getting closer to the big date and today we are ready to publish IntelliJ IDEA 2018.3 Beta 2. We’ve been polishing the forthcoming release, so this week it’s more about stability improvements. Download the latest build now and share your feedback with us!
Even though our brand-new JVM profiler has been received well, we’ve also collected some useful feedback that shows that there’s room for refining it and making it more user-friendly. That’s why in the upcoming v2018.3, the JVM Profiler is available as an experimental feature, which means that you can continue using the JVM Profiler in IntelliJ IDEA 2018.3 Ultimate edition as long as you enable it. Go to the Maintenance dialog (Ctrl-Alt-Shift-/ on Linux, Cmd-Alt-Shift-/ on macOS), select the Experimental features option, and then select the idea.profiler.enabled checkbox.
We’ve moved the native toolbar on Linux to experimental features as well, so in the same Experimental features dialog, please select the linux.native.menu option.
We plan to fine-tune these experimental features and release them next year. Your experience with them is vital, so please keep sharing your feedback to help us make them better for you!
With this update, we’ve added initial support for Spring Cloud Stream.
We’ve also updated the bundled Kotlin plugin to v1.3. You are very welcome to try it out, as the Kotlin 1.3 is now officially released and stable!
Last but not least, we’ve integrated the following notable fixes with the updated bundled JRE v1.8.0_152-release-1343-b15:
- Some system DLLs will be shipped with JFX builds because JFX building was switched to Visual Studio 2017 JRE-991.
- The issue with starting IDEA 2018.3 on CentOS 7.5 was resolved JRE-986.
- The issue with freezing input after MacOS key-selector on Mojave was fixed JRE-998.
- The target exception message was included in the data block of JDWP error packets JRE-1007
The full list of all the changes is available in the IDE release notes and the JBR release notes.
