JetBrains to Integrate Google’s Gemini Models Into AI Assistant
JetBrains is planning to soon leverage Google Cloud’s Vertex AI by integrating Google’s Gemini models into its AI-powered coding tool, AI Assistant. This makes JetBrains AI Assistant the first of its kind to use multiple large language models (LLMs).
JetBrains AI Assistant
AI Assistant helps developers stay focused on creative challenges by handling routine tasks. Integrated with JetBrains IDEs, AI Assistant can generate code, suggest fixes, refactor functions, and answer questions – all with contextual understanding. It also generates tests, documentation, and commit messages. Developers report saving up to eight hours per week using JetBrains AI Assistant.
New possibilities with Gemini 1.5 Pro and Gemini 1.5 Flash
What truly sets JetBrains AI Assistant apart from other AI assistants is its ability to choose the most suitable LLM for each task. This ensures you can focus on the creative aspects of coding while AI handles the repetitive stuff.
Gemini Pro 1.5 and Flash 1.5 on Google Cloud’s Vertex AI will unlock a number of new use cases for AI Assistant with its long context window, advanced reasoning, and overall impressive performance. Gemini Flash 1.5 will help with the use cases where cost efficiency at high volume and low latency are paramount.
These updates will be rolled out in the coming weeks.
With JetBrains AI Enterprise, you can choose which LLM your teams use. For other users, JetBrains AI Assistant will automatically select the most suitable LLM for each task.
Partnership with Google Cloud
We see this partnership as a new productivity boost for our users and hope you will try JetBrains AI Assistant to see its power in action.
