New in Datalore: BigQuery Support, SSH tunneling, and More
Hi everyone!
In today’s newsletter we’ll mostly talk about the recent improvements for data connections in Datalore, but first…
Meet us at BigDataLDN!
On September 21st, our team will be attending BigDataLDN and it’ll be a great chance to meet in person! If you are going, drop us a line on Twitter and swing by our booth to say “Hi!”.
BigQuery Support
You can now connect to Google BigQuery directly from the Datalore interface and use all the benefits of SQL cells to fetch the data into your notebook.
To connect to BigQuery, you can use the following Authentication types:
- Google Service Account
- Access and Refresh tokens
- Application default credentials
Watch this quick video tutorial to learn how to connect to Google BigQuery using the Service Account Authorization:
Community users can try the database integration and SQL cells feature free for 30 days. Professional plan users get unlimited access to this feature.
Enterprise plan users should expect Google BigQuery support in the next Datalore Enterprise release.
💡 Tip: specify the DefaultDataset
parameter in the database connection dialog to get the dataset schema and SQL code completion.
SSH tunneling support
Now you can connect to your remote databases using SSH tunneling in Datalore. This will create an encrypted SSH connection between Datalore and your gateway server. Connecting via SSH tunnels will help avoid whitelisting Datalore IP addresses and makes it possible to connect to databases that are not exposed to the public network.
To connect via SSH tunnel, navigate to the SSH tab inside the database connection window, choose to enable SSH, and specify the required parameters.
