Hi everyone,
A bug fix update, AppCode 3.1.4, is now available for download. You’ll get an automatic update notification in the IDE in case you are using AppCode 3.1.3.
This build mainly addresses a regression in Swift Rename refactoring (OC-11659) introduced in the previous build, and some cosmetics related to the IDE icons (OC-11577). Fixed now, and sorry for any possible inconvenience.
We are planning to dive into Swift language now and start the EAP build with many new features soon. Follow us to get the updates.
Yours as always,
The AppCode Team
The best IDE ever ! <3
Love the updates. Looking forward to the EAP build!
Really nice coding features, but I want to be honest… instead of implementing new features it would be nice if the core functionality would be available (e.g. support for OS X user interface XIB files – not only for iOS).
Thanks for the opinion. We are really not sure right now where to move with the UI Designer. You can always disable the UI Designer plugin in AppCode and have xib files opened automatically in Xcode’s Interface Builder. And Apple evolves it rapidly with many new and fantastic features. So we are still undecided how we should behave for AppCode case – should we evolve UI Designer in some unique way or simply copy the IB’s functionality.
Right now we are mostly focused on Swift support in editor. When more resources in the team are free, we’ll come back to UI Designer and think over it.
+1 on Swift support. I also prefer to see improved Swift support. I use AppCode for coding features I used to in IntelliJ. For UI and project settings, I always switch to XCode.
+1 to this as well. I’ve been waiting for AppCode to provide good support for Swift since last summer.
Concur wholeheartedly.
Feel you guys made a mistake with the UI Designer. Was a distraction, and why bother trying to keep up with Apple, at something they’ll always beat you at, when you can deliver something better than they likely ever will (code editing/navigation/refactoring).
Really hope you guys just let the IDE thing go – and invest resources in a swift and a c# editor too, while you’re focusing on things people actually want and will use.
I mean let the UI designer – keep the IDE
Thanks for the feedback. Actually right now we are doing exactly this – focusing on Swift editing experience and Swift smart support. Still undecided about UI Designer however.
Keen to get EAP!
Would really like to see CoreData support, with Database plugin support as well in Appcode!
I’m in no doubt that Swift is pretty much #1 priority right now – and rightly so!
3.1.4, heh just in time for Pi Day 😉
