PyCharm 1.1 Release Candidate

The holiday season is already very close, and yet we still intend to stick to our plan of releasing PyCharm 1.1 before the end of 2010. And we’re almost there: we’ve completed development on all the planned features, and the only thing that’s left to do is a final round of testing.

Today’s RC build brings two long-expected new features:

  • We’ve bundled a couple of dark editor color schemes in the distribution of PyCharm. A tool to convert color schemes from TextMate to PyCharm is available separately on GitHub, so if you’d like to use some other existing color scheme, you’re welcome to convert it yourself.
  • On Linux and MacOS X, PyCharm now supports opening files and projects from the command line, either when PyCharm is not running or in the already running instance. You’ll be prompted to create a command-line script when you run the new build for the first time, and you can also create the script using the action File | Create Command-line Launcher.

As usual, you can download the RC build from the EAP page, or check the complete release notes. Your feedback is very much welcome in the issue tracker.
