We’ll have live office hours on April 23rd to connect directly with our team. Not part of our Discord community yet? Join the JetBrains Community Discord here to start connecting with fellow WebStorm users and the development team.

The JetBrains Community Discord server has been around for a while now, but it’s been challenging for us to use it in a way that truly benefits the community. We’ve seen its potential, but without the right structure and attention, we just haven’t been able to keep up with it.

We do want to change that. We’re committed to making the Discord channel a more useful, welcoming place for everyone in the WebStorm community. We believe this space can become an invaluable resource for developers to ask questions, share knowledge, and ultimately grow professionally. In this blog post, we’ll outline how we plan to accomplish this through thoughtful restructuring and active engagement.

What’s Changing: Channel Structure That Makes Sense

Previously, we had a single WebStorm channel that served all purposes – from announcements to help requests to general discussions. This made it difficult for our team to stay on top of conversations and for community members to find relevant information.

To address this, we’re creating a more structured approach with different channels catering to the various needs of our community:

#webstorm-announcements

This is going to be read-only and will be used by our team to make general announcements about releases, roadmaps, and upcoming events.

#webstorm-general

Sometimes it can be nice to have a more unstructured format, fostering organic conversation and exchange within the community. That’s exactly what #webstorm-general is going to be for.

#webstorm-help-hub

We will utilize a forum channel, which is easier for everyone who actively seeks help. This is going to be the place to go if you have a feature request, run into a bug, or are unsure how to proceed.

#webstorm-ama

Sometimes you might have questions that are not necessarily a bug or a feature request, but we do want to provide any kind of transparency we can. So, in case you have any questions, feel free to ask them here.

Live Events: Direct Access to the People Who Built It

Talk is cheap. We’re putting our time where our Discord is with an upcoming event:

Live Office Hours – April 23rd

Together with the WebStorm dev team, we want to have a more open dialogue with you. For that very purpose, we are doing live office hours in Discord in #webstorm-office-hours. This will be a great place for you to directly interact with our team and ask any questions you might have. The office hours will be on April 23rd at 4:00 pm CEST/10:00 am EDT, where we will also show some of the new features of the 2025.1 release.

Why This Actually Matters

Developer tooling is only as good as the knowledge surrounding it. The most powerful features of WebStorm often remain undiscovered, not because they don’t exist, but because knowledge sharing happens in fragmented, disorganized spaces, and discoverability of features can be very hard if you don’t know about their existence.

A well-structured community isn’t a nice-to-have — it’s the difference between leveraging 20% of WebStorm’s capabilities and unlocking the full power of your IDE. We hope that this can be a meaningful step in that direction!

Join Us

The WebStorm Discord isn’t just another Slack alternative or a marketing channel. It’s a technical resource built by developers for developers.
Join us on Discord.

The WebStorm team

[89
104,8762
