CLion 2016.2 Release Candidate

Posted on by Anastasia Kazakova

Hi everyone,

Today we are glad to announce that CLion 2016.2 Release Candidate (build 162.1236.11) is available for download. That means that the 2016.2 release is just around the corner!

We appreciate your feedback and comments, and if you find any bug at all, please file an issue in our tracker.

Previous EAP build introduced Remote GDB Debug feature, however our users on RedHat and CentOS 6 were unable to use it with the GDB bundled into CLion due to the incompatible glibc version. The problem is fixed in this build.

Please note that to use CLion 2016.2 RC you need to have an active subscription (or start a 30-day evaluation period).

I’m looking forward to this release and I can’t wait to hear the roadmap for 2016.3.

This is anecdotal of course, but I’m hoping for support for a remote toolchain and in my case I need the ability to run CLion on Windows but compile and execute on a Linux server taking advantage of its many cores and also because Linux is the target.

But other than that CLion has the feature set I need. All I want is better C++ parsing and refactoring as well as performance improvements that helps my red/green/refactor cycle.

These are the things that would impact my productivity and quality of output the most. The quality of output comes from the ability to refactor quickly and correctly.

Thanks Olof, we’ll keep this in mind when planning the next iteration. Stay tuned!

I keep getting a dialog about http://www.jetbrains.com certificate is not trusted. What is it trying to do? Also, can I turn it off so it doesn’t keep appearing?

We’ll check what’s going on there. Thanks for letting us know.

Could you please check you get the Root CA updated?

I don’t know how to do that, but I can add that this happens when I’m trying to run CLion on Windows but not on Linux with the same version. This could very well be because we are behind some serious web filtering. I can’t download plugins directly, for instance.

I noticed a bug while using the last EAP (1236.1) where calling EOF in Clion leads to the program ending, while in bash normal continues the execution of the program (when using cin in a while loop). Haven’t tested the RC yet.
