dbt Core code completion

The recent upgrade has improved code completion functionality. DataSpell now offers smart suggestions for column names directly from the code in your models, even before these models are materialized in a database. To get a better understanding of what this enhancement means, check out the video:

Run, test, or preview models from an SQL file

We’ve introduced a much-anticipated feature that allows you to run, test, or preview the compiled code of a model directly from an SQL file. This new functionality includes a convenient gutter tool, enabling you to execute your models without needing to input commands in the terminal.

Add environment variables to the run configurations

Now you can add environment variables such as user name or password into dbt run configurations. This functionality is essential for securing sensitive information, enabling flexible configuration management, and supporting scalable collaboration without embedding credentials or environment-specific details in the codebase.

These are the most important updates for DataSpell 2024.1 EAP 2!

We encourage you to try the new features and share your feedback on X (formerly Twitter) or in our issue tracker, where you can also report any bugs you find in the EAP versions.

We’re excited to hear what you think!
