Introducing Grazie – The AI Writing Companion for People in Tech

Grazie, a new AI writing companion for people working in tech, is now generally available. With Grazie, you can streamline your non-coding tasks by integrating generative AI into your JetBrains IDEs, browsers, and other tools.

Grazie helps transform your thoughts into clear, well-articulated text through features like instant proofreading, inline text completion, summarization, translation, rephrasing, and more. The next time you need to generate new ideas, draft documents, or explore different perspectives, why not see what our context-aware AI chat can offer? If you’re part of a global team, you’ll appreciate Grazie’s multilingual capabilities, which allow you to communicate effectively across borders. With Grazie, you can focus on coding and let us take care of the text.

Grazie is built with user privacy and security at its core. We don’t use any text you type for training the language models, and none of it is stored in the memory or logs of our servers, giving you the confidence to write freely and securely.

As part of JetBrains AI, Grazie is included in the AI Pro subscription plan and is also available for free with some limitations to the AI-powered functionality.

Grazie’s features

Instant proofreading

Grazie automatically checks your grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style, taking into account syntax, semantics, and context. It quickly suggests multiple alternative options to fix mistakes. Whether you’re working on a code comment, commit message, piece of documentation, or technical blog post, Grazie ensures a professional and polished result. Instant proofreading is currently supported for English, German, Russian, and Ukrainian.

AI chat 

Accessible on any website, Grazie Chat streamlines the process of drafting contextual content and generates ideas on the fly, helping to boost your productivity and spark your creativity. It processes queries, provides relevant responses, and offers suggestions or instructions based on your input. Grazie Chat and other AI-powered features such as Summarize, Translate, Improve, Change tone, and Paraphrase excel in English, but are also compatible with a range of other languages.

Summarization

Grazie’s Summarize feature provides you with concise summaries, allowing you to quickly grasp key points without spending hours reading extensive texts. 

Inline text completion

Grazie suggests contextually relevant words and phrases, boosting your writing speed. We combine a rule-based approach alongside machine learning models that are trained specifically on high-tech industry texts, enabling our tools to understand your context. 

Translation

Our on-the-fly Translate feature ensures you stay connected and understood. Grazie converts your text into your selected language, maintaining the original tone and context. Translation is currently available for English, German, French, Spanish, Russian, Korean, Chinese, and Japanese.

Improvement 

The Improve feature offers a range of options to refine your writing according to your specific requirements. Whether you need to elaborate on topics for depth, engage more effectively with your audience, or simplify your content for clarity, this tool adjusts your text seamlessly. It also enables you to make your phrasing sound more natural, shorten content, and improve a piece’s overall readability, ensuring your text resonates with its intended audience.

Tone correction

The Change tone feature is designed to fine-tune the emotional resonance of the text to match the intended audience. Choose from the following supported tones: Professional, Confident, Friendly, Technical, and Inclusive. You can even apply multiple tones in succession to capture just the right voice for your text.

Paraphrasing and synonymization

The Paraphrase feature reformulates and restructures your text, ensuring the main idea is maintained but expressed in a new and unique way. 

A separate synonymization option is also available, targeting single-word substitutions to enhance vocabulary without altering the intended meaning. 

Together, these options ensure your writing is engaging, clear, and polished.

Word definitions

The Look Up feature provides instant definitions of words and phrases so that every word has the precise impact you intend. This functionality is currently available for English and German.

Which LLMs are under the hood?

Grazie’s AI features are powered by JetBrains’ proprietary models and by models from third-party providers such as OpenAI and Google. We continuously test new models and are considering adding more LLM providers in the future, provided they meet our security standards. The full list of LLM providers we work with can be found here. We also develop our own language models and plan to combine third-party LLMs, including open-source models, with our own.

Privacy

Grazie is designed with privacy and security in mind. When we studied audience needs, we found that more than half of the respondents were concerned about how AI uses their texts, where it sends them, and other similar issues. New AI-based services are continually emerging, changing our lives by offering an increasingly wider range of possibilities. However, many companies restrict their employees’ use of these services due to data security concerns. That’s why we:

• Don’t use any of the text that users type to train language models, whether our own or those of third parties. 
• Don’t retain any of your data in our servers’ memory or logs, ensuring your information stays private and secure.

General availability

Grazie is now available as a plugin for your JetBrains IDEs and as an extension for Safari, Google Chrome, Arc, and other Chromium-based browsers. Both the browser extension and the plugin are free. They include a basic volume limit for AI-powered functionality. This free allowance is replenished weekly, and according to our research, it meets the writing needs of most professionals in tech.

AI Pro subscribers have access to the full volume for Grazie AI features, which is 500 times greater than the basic volume and also replenishes weekly. A subscription also provides access to some additional features that are coming soon.

Grazie is supported in Google Docs, Google Sheets, Gmail, Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket, GitHub, Slack (web), Zendesk, YouTrack, and other platforms.
