IntelliJ IDEA 2025.3 Release Candidate Is Here
The Release Candidate for IntelliJ IDEA 2025.3 is now available, and we’re closing the Early Access Program for this development cycle.

Thank you to everyone who evaluated the EAP builds, shared feedback, and reported issues. Your input has been invaluable in shaping the upcoming release.
When we opened the IntelliJ IDEA 2025.3 EAP, we outlined the main directions we wanted to explore. While not everything we planned early on made it into the release version, many key areas evolved into the features and improvements highlighted below.
Productivity improvements
This release introduces features designed to make everyday work smoother and more flexible, such as:
- Unified distribution for a simpler, cleaner installation experience.
- Command completion for faster access to IDE actions without having to memorize shortcuts.
- Spring Debugger updates, including smarter navigation and clearer data views.
- Islands theme, a refreshed and softer look built for focus and long coding sessions.
Support for new technologies
We’ve expanded support to keep pace with the latest ecosystem updates, including:
- Spring Boot 4 and Spring Framework 7
- Spring Data JDBC
- Java 25, Groovy 5, and Scala 3.8
- Gradle 9
- JUnit 6 and Vitest 4
AI upgrades
Several updates add more transparency and flexibility to how you use AI in the IDE:
- Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) for connecting external models is coming soon.
- Native support for Junie and Claude Agent in the AI chat.
- Transparent AI quotas, making usage limits clear and predictable.
Beyond the new features, IntelliJ IDEA 2025.3 includes a range of quality and performance improvements aimed at delivering a smoother and more reliable experience. We’ll cover the fixes in detail with a dedicated blog post, but in short, this release brings changes to various progress reporting mechanics, a smaller distribution size, a noticeably faster context collection in the Spring Debugger plugin, improved JPA handling, and numerous updates to version control systems, build tools, and other everyday workflows.
Thank you once again for being part of this EAP. Your feedback helps us keep evolving IntelliJ IDEA in a thoughtful and reliable way. You can find the full list of recent updates in the release notes.
We’re putting the final touches on the release and look forward to sharing the complete 2025.3 overview soon. Same as last time, the 2025.3 release will include two overview materials:
- A What’s New page covering all new features and improvements in the IDE.
- A dedicated What’s Fixed blog post summarizing the stability, performance, and quality updates.
Stay tuned!
