IntelliJ IDEA가 20주년이라는 기념비적인 날을 맞았습니다. 벌써 20년이나 되었다는 게 믿기시나요? 생각해 보세요. 제품이 출시되었을 때는 스마트폰과 소셜 미디어가 일상에 나타나기 전이었고 영화는 DVD로 봐야 했으며 심지어 Java 가상 머신은 오픈 소스로 제공되지도 않았습니다.

IntelliJ IDEA는 20년 전 개발을 더 생산적이고 즐거운 경험으로 만들고자 하는 바람으로 탄생했습니다. 그리고 오늘날에는 전 세계 4백만여 명의 사용자에게 애용되고 있습니다. 과장이 아닙니다. IntelliJ IDEA의 사용자는 남극을 비롯해 전 대륙에 포진해 있으니까요.

IntelliJ IDEA는 고급 코드 탐색과 안정적인 코드 리팩토링 기능을 갖춘 최초의 Java IDE 중 하나로 시작해서 이제 생산적 소프트웨어 개발 및 IntelliJ 플랫폼 기반의 다른 IDE 제품군을 위한 모든 주요 도구와 유용한 기능이 포함된 포괄적 IDE로 성장했습니다. 한 순간도 쉬지 않고 달려온 시간이었습니다. 사용자의 요구사항을 충족하기 위해 계속해서 발전하고 새 기능을 만들고 기존 기능을 개선했습니다. 그간 멋진 여정이었습니다. 크나큰 성취와 배움을 얻었기에 다음 20년이 가져다 줄 혁신도 무척 기대됩니다.

IntelliJ IDEA has reached an incredible milestone – its 20th anniversary. Can you believe it’s been 20 years already? Just think about it: we launched our product when smartphones and social media were not present in our daily lives, we had to watch movies on DVDs, and the Java virtual machine hadn’t even become open source.

Twenty years ago, IntelliJ IDEA was created out of a desire to make development a more productive and enjoyable experience. Today IntelliJ IDEA is used and loved by over 4 million users all over the world. And this is not an exaggeration – we have users on each and every continent, including Antarctica.

What began as one of the first Java IDEs with advanced code navigation and reliable code refactorings has grown into a comprehensive IDE with all the key tools and useful features for productive software development and a suite of other IDEs built on the IntelliJ Platform. Over the years, we haven’t stopped for a second: we are constantly evolving, creating new features and polishing the existing ones to make sure the needs of our users are always met. It’s been an amazing journey so far. We have accomplished and learned so much, which makes us excited about the innovations the next 20 years will bring.

Today, we’d like to say a huge thank you, to you, our amazing users. Your support and feedback have always been a real source of our inspiration. We also want to thank all the developers who have contributed to the product both past and present, including our all teammates at JetBrains and all the developers who have ever submitted pull requests, made feature requests, or submitted bug reports. We have come a long way together, and this milestone seems like a great chance to look back at the amazing ride we’ve all been on.
