PhpStorm & WebStorm 2.0 EAP build 98.91

PhpStorm & WebStorm 2.0 EAP build 98.91 is available. This build brings several new features:

  • Code completion is now invoked automatically (This one was surprisingly highly requested) Please remove “Extended code sense” plugin if you installed it. Also, many subtle changes were made completion list behavior to made it more fluid. Drop us a line if something feels broken to you
  • Zend debugger is now supported. Check out “Debug” tab of your run configurations to switch to Zend debugger. We are eager to get feedback on this!
  • Array key completion added to PHP editor. It’s still very basic, works only with empty brackets, and does not provide type information for array elements. Expect significant improvements in this area
  • Custom Smarty braces are now completely supported. Go to File|Settings|PHP|Smarty to tune it
  • PHP inspections can now be suppressed for particular statement. However, please use suppression very conservatively and if you believe that inspector is wrong always report the problems
  • Remote host view now allows rename, cut&paste and drag-and-drop move operations on remote files

Complete changelog

Please note that ALL of this is work in progress and will undergo series of both technical and cosmetic changes during next months.

Develop with pleasure!

Finally.. been waiting for this all day….

  • Urkman

Will it be possible to use the ZendDebugger Toolbar?

  • Priet

    >> Array key completion

WOW!! Finally, the last bit that I missed since I left Dreamweaver years ago.

  • IvanSF

It’s nice to see some improvements to the remote host window. For people who still have to use PHP, this is a nice improvement.

  • IvanSF

    And by PHP… I mean FTP :)

  • Sven

Is there a howto and/or a debug browser toolbar available for Zend Debugging?

  • Johnny Woo

How do you use array index completion? I tried it on $_SERVER and a user-defined array and can’t get any suggestions.

  • Alexey Gopachenko

    @Urkman, @Sven
There’s no any “Zend Debugging toolbar” support yet. Please file a (one) feature request to

  • Alexey Gopachenko

@Johnny Woo Array index completion NOW works only right after index opening bracket “[” and simply adds all expressions already used for this array to completion list.

  • Johnny Woo

@Alexey, so when i type “$_SERVER[” I should immediately get a list of default indexes? It does not happen, only the closing bracket is inserted.

  • Michael

I saw that you had the Flex features as a “Under consideration” in the roadmap for PHPStorm. I sooooo hope that you guys add that to PHPStorm. PHPStorm would then be my complete one-stop-shop for all my web developing!

  • Alexey Gopachenko

@Johnny Woo Please read carefully: right after index opening bracket “[”

  • Alexey Gopachenko

@Michael Well, no flex for 2.0 definitely

  • Urkman

    Zend Debugger Toolbar Support:

    Vote for it :-)

  • Goyo

When can we expect 2.0 to be released?

  • Michael

(sad face) guess imma just have to upgrade to the new Ultimate when it’s released! That release will have all of PHPStorms features wont it? I hope…

  • Alexey Gopachenko

@Michael IDEA Ultimate has all language support plugins (Flex, PHP, etc) but a bit more complicated approach to project structure.

  • Alexey Gopachenko

@Goyo Well, we plan to publish it before Christmas. No warranties though %)

  • Belkin

still not fixed key mapping and f5….

  • Elte Hupkes

This new release has done nothing for me but crash.. When I open my project it starts indexing, the progressbar stalls halfway through and then the IDE just becomes unresponsive, task manager is the only way out. I tried reinstalling without cache, even deleting the .idea folder in my project and start over, but no luck..

Is there any way I can find out what’s going on / send an error report so you guys can fix it in the next release :)?

  • Alexey Gopachenko

@Elte Hupkes There’s a perf problem in indexing some (especially big .js) files. Already fixed, update will be published soon.

  • Laurynas

phpStorm latest EAP indexes .js files drastically slow, the performance drops with larger projects…

  • Jamal Abdou-Karim Bengeloun

@Alexey Yes, mine chokes on ext.js

  • Hutch

    Trying to install PHPStorm2.0 98.81 over PHPStorm1

  • Elte Hupkes

    @Alexey Jups, 98.101 fixed it, thanks a lot :).

  • Paulo

Can’t get debbuging with zend debugger working. I managed to do so with xdebug though. I’m using a fresh install of zend community server 5.0.3 in Win 7.

Is there a documentation about how to get it up and running?

  • Alexey Gopachenko

@Paulo Basically it should just work the same way as XDebug – you just need to swtich IDE debugger engine on Debug tab and select proper (Zend) server. Please use project forum for furyher discussion

  • Paulo

    Thanks for your reply, Alexey!

I did realize what was wrong. Phpstorm so far only supports debbuging with zend debugger for single pages, not for whole applications (complex ones, framework based).

I’ll wait then for full support. I’m looking forward to!

  • Alexey Gopachenko

@Paulo “Full support” will be available in next EAP, scheduled to Monday 11 Oct
