PhpStorm & WebStorm 2.0 EAP build 98.521

PhpStorm & WebStorm 2.0 EAP build 98.521 is available. Most notable changes are:

  • XDebug  “Zero configuration” mode now available for XDebug. IDE will automatically listen for XDebug connection, requesting missing file mappings as needed, so all you need is to just click a button in a browser and debugger will pop up with your page source. Also works on all AJAX requests while debugger cookie is set, just as easy as with ZendDebugger now. Detailed tutorial will follow shortly
  • Zend Debugger now supports debugging of local phpUnit tests
  • PHP debuggers got completion in watches & evaluate
  • Global autocompletion focus mode option added, see Editor|Code Completion| Preselect first suggestion
  • PHP autocompletion logic straightened: no finish by keys other than Tab or Enter when popped up automatically, no popup in irrelevant cases (i.e. after dot). In default mode first item is always preselected (see previous option to change)
  • SQL connection manager can now automatically download drivers

Complete changelog

Please note that ALL of this is work in progress and will undergo series of both technical and cosmetic changes.

Download PhpStorm & WebStorm 2.0 EAP build 98.521 for your platform from project EAP page or wait for an update/patch available notification (usually rolled out in a couple of days later).

Develop with pleasure!

  • OZ

    Use existing solutions:
For Google Chrome: Xdebug helper —
    For Firefox: easy Xdebug —

    Another useful page:

  • Mounter

  • Rafi

  • Georgy

    Link for download failed.

    File not found

  • OZ

All links are correct at this moment.

This build works without errors, that’s great.

  • Petr

    Now debugger totally not working(

WinXP, XDebug 2.1.0, PHP 5.3, PHP Storm EAP 98.521

    1. First time when I start debug session from IDE it catch breakpoints corretelly. But when I press F9 (Resume Program) output goes into “Script Output” window, not to browser. Firefox shows “loading page” forever.

    2. I have tried Firefox extension easy Xdebug ( – when it’s enabled, IDE always beraks on first line (even if related checkbox in debugger settings is unchecked). And the same issue with “Script Optput” window – browser does not show the page.

  • OZ

Petr, this issues already posted in tracker:
    So vote for them.

  • Andriy Bazanov

It’s working fine for me for both cases. I recommend to create a new thread on Forum where you may receive proper help with your situation compared to the blog post comment:

  • Alexey Gopachenko

About download problems: content distribution network goes awry from time to time last couple of weeks – but provider team is constantly working on the problem, so please just retry in a hour or so if you getting 404.

  • goyote8

css autocompletion is broken for both embedded styles and inside an external css file.

  • goyote8

    Arr extends Kohana_Arr {}

    Kohana_Arr {
    static public function test() {}

There is no autcomplete for ‘Arr’ because its empty although it does have a static method inherited by Kohana_Arr. Please Fix.

  • Alexey Gopachenko

@goyote8 Issues should be filed into issue tracker

  • Andriy Bazanov

    1) CSS autocompletion is working fine here. Please be more specific (provide an example of what is broken).

    2) You do not see anything in completion suggestion box because you have more than one Arr class in your project (this one + one that is part of Kohana itself), and PhpStorm does behaves “strange” in such situations. Here is the ticket for Kohana (and alike) framework:

  • TeeJay

i noticed that the IDE is very slow atm. I disabled inspections but it doesnt help very much. Does anyone noticed that as well ??

  • OZ

nope. try to turn off debuggers auto-start.

  • Alexey Gopachenko

@OZ open socket does not harm performance in any way.

  • Oleg

What about the generic support for php frameworks? You’ve been delaying it for quite a few builds…

  • Alexey Gopachenko

@Oleg Its really hard to make it truly “user serviceable” especially with “no java code” part :)

  • Johnny Woo

Is there a description of what ‘Smart’ mode does in preselect first suggestion? It says ‘depending on the context’ in help, but what does that mean?

  • Alexey Gopachenko

@Johnny Woo That means that preselection is up to specific language support implementation. For PHP its always “preselect” for the sake of consistency. Other lang experience (xml, js) may vary.
