Why is there such a long delay between the announcement and the patch update availability?

Usually we’re trying to deliver patch updates ASAP. This time we had to do additional testing for patches before letting them go live.

    Hello,

I’m using 2016.1.3 on Ubuntu. The PyCharm update window opens up, but clicking “Download” does absolutely nothing (the other buttons work fine). Do I have to update manually?

That’s strange. At least it should forward you to the download page. For 2016.1.3 please do the manual upgrade. You can install the latest version along with the current one. Then import all the setting and check that everything works fine. Later you can safely uninstall your current version.

How about the patch to update 2016.2.2? It’s almost 1 month since this blog post announced it

There is a patch 2016.2.2->2016.2.3 available. Still can’t upgrade? Please make a new 2016.2.3 installation then. All settings will be preserved.
