RubyMine Nire EAP (118.533): MacRuby syntax support

Posted on by Tatiana Vasilyeva

Hello everyone,

There are a lot of discussions around RubyMotion these days. And we can’t help being interested. There are still a lot of questions to be answered, but a long way always starts with small steps. So we are glad to announce that RubyMine Nire EAP build (118.533) brings MacRuby syntax support:

And it means you can enjoy appropriate syntax highlighting for RubyMotion apps as well. Work is in progress so your comments and feedback are very welcome.

We have also improved Model Dependency Diagram for you to be able to:

  • Create a new model from diagram context menu
  • Change diagram view by removing/adding models
  • Drag diagram elements to customize a layout
  • Add a text note to a model

Find more details and screenshots in the release notes. Stay with us and let us know if anything goes wrong.

Develop with pleasure!

Exactly what new syntax is supported? I see only Ruby syntax in the example, and that was supported already, right?

You may see MacRuby specific selectors syntax in declaration of connection method.

is there also autocompletion and/or some documentation help for the iOS API for MacRuby / RubyMotion?

Currently there is no autocompletion. You might be interested in this post on our forum.
