M1 supports Spring, Hibernate, ClearCase, and energizes performance.
April 11, 2007
Prague, Czech Republic, April 11, 2007 — JetBrains®, the creator of intelligent, productivity-enhancing applications, has announced the general availability of the first Milestone on the path to version 7.0 of its award-winning Java IDE (integrated development environment), IntelliJ® IDEA.
“Milestones are an excellent way to let our community get a feel for what’s coming in the next major release, all the while collecting their valuable feedback,” noted JetBrains’ COO, Alex Tkachman. “This access to new functionality, even before major releases, is something our community thrives on. It’s all about being adaptive to community needs”.
This first Milestone brings multiple new features and improvements in such areas as J2EE support, automated refactorings, code analysis, version control integrations, debugging, search, general usability and performance, and more.
The most noticeable feature highlights are:
- Drastic performance improvements, including: quick startup, much faster JSP and XML editing, better utilization of multiple cores/CPUs, and a background mode for time-consuming operations
- Spring support
- Hibernate support
- ClearCase integration
- New version control operations, such as: Create/Apply Patch, Shelf Changes
- Eclipse interoperability: IDEA can now read and update Eclipse project files directly
- TeamCity Integration enhancements, such as the strategic ability to review the results of server-side duplicate analysis directly inside the IDE
The latest build and more detailed information about all the new features, can be found at https://www.jetbrains.com/idea/nextversion/index.html?m1pr.
This Milestone is a preview of Version 7.0, which is planned to be released by the end of 2007. Current owners of IntelliJ IDEA 6.0 licenses can take advantage of all the added features in IntelliJ IDEA 7.0 M1, for commercial use, until January 1st, 2008. Of course, a 30-day free evaluation is available for all other users.
