More about Plant a Billion Trees:

The Atlantic Forest of Brazil needs our help. As one of the world’s most endangered tropical forests, only 12% of its original area remains, and only 7% of that is well conserved. With your assistance, we can bring the Atlantic Forest back from the brink – restoring 1 million acres of land by helping plant 1 billion trees. This restoration effort has the potential to remove 4 million tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere every year helping to stabilize the global climate and fight global warming.

  1. It shows €89 as special price for phpStorm (no discount).

    • Robert Demmer says:

Hello Endijs, Try again in a few minutes. It should be fixed by then. To be clear the discount DOES apply to PhpStorm. Thanks for the report.

      • Alexandru G. says:

Robert, i guess the price is still wrong. 89 euro / 2 != 53 euro for phpstorm personal license.

I love phpstorm, but for me the price is a little to high, even with the discount. At least for the moment.

        • Robert Demmer says:

Alexandru, The discount on PhpStorm is 40% Off and not a discount of 50% which I think you are thinking. You can see the sale percentage on the various products above and when clicking buy from the official sale page.

If you are a member of a recognized open source project for example, you may be eligible for a free license. There are also Student licenses which cost less. We would really like to see a copy of PhpStorm in your hands :-)

          • Alexandru G. says:

Ah, my mistake. I thought that the 50% discount is applicable to phpstorm also. I am aware of the student license, which is not applicable for me and for the moment I don’t contribute to any known OS project. I will enjoy phpstorm until the trial license expires and after that I think that I will force myself to buy a license, because is hard to use other IDE after I tried phpstorm.

Best regards and thanks for clarification.

  2. Tom says:

I only bought a license last night and now its 50% off? I emailed you guys and you said “No promotions in the near future”…

  3. Ranie Jade Ramiso says:

    License upgrades not included? :(

  4. Pawel says:

    There’ll be dicount for Renewal?

  5. Matej says:

The offer for R# seems to be off, it’s advertised as 50% where:

    Full edition – orig. price: 179€, offer – 116€ (35% OFF)
    C#/VB edition – orig.price: 134€, offer – 89€ (33% OFF)

    • Robert Demmer says:

Matej, You are correct. The sale percentage listed on the blog post was calculated incorrectly. It has since been fixed. Thank you for reporting this.

  7. Juraj Plavcan says:

It states 50% OFF from ReSharper, but to me 50% off from €179 is €89.50 (Full version) and from €134 is €67 (C# version). Doesn’t 50% OFF mean that it should cost half the original price? 😉

    • Robert Demmer says:

Hello Juraj, This was a error on the initial blog post but corrected 45 minutes ago. The correct prices were listed from the start on the website. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have cause you. We hope that you still enjoy the discount.

  9. John Pelly says:

Any chance you can offer prepayment (along with a discount) of your upcoming C++ IDE?

    • Robert Demmer says:

Thank you for writing John. It is not possible at the moment as the official product doesn’t yet exist :-)

However, we’ll probably have a promotional price period for the new C++ IDE once it’s available.

  10. Bill says:

Do you still donate for the trees to be planted on a renewal? PyCharm same price right now for renewal/new purchase. Thinking if there’s no benefit cost wise, might go for the one that will at least benefit the environment. :)

    • Robert Demmer says:

Hello Bill. Thank you for taking the time to consider the environment :-) The planting of trees is only for new purchases but if you contact I hope there will be a way that your purchase can contribute toward the Plant a Billion Trees initiative.

  13. Andreas Schipplock says:

Your checkout procedure isn’t well done; after paying with paypal through element5 I got told it takes up to 48 hours for you (jetbrains) to deliver the software.

1.) who is element5? And why do they present themselves as a reseller to me? I bought intellij on your website, not on element5s website. That’s strange to me. You obviously tricked me into “element5” :). Their words also sounded as “hopefully they deliver” and “it’s up to them; not our fault if they don’t”. Quite uncommon; really.

2.) it’s faster to download a keygen and the trial to get intellij running forever (I would never do that because your software is great but ask google; it’s possible). Why is a paying customer aggrieved in this case? Generating or sending the license key to a customer who has made a _confirmed_ payment via paypal should be possible and it’s how most companies handle it. You don’t.

    I’m upset; bah! :)

    • Robert Demmer says:

      Hello Andreas,

Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you. 48 hours is the maximum amount of time it should take to get your license. In most cases the confirmation and license key should come within a hour or so however volume may be high at the moment. Please check your spam folder as it may be there. If the problem persists you can also contact who will be able to further assist you. In the meantime, you can always download the latest 30 trial version and enter the license key when it arrives.

Thank you for your understanding, your purchase of IntelliJ IDEA and helping support the Plant a Billion Trees initiative.

      • Andreas Schipplock says:

thanks for your reply. Btw. my trial has ended! 😛

        • Robert Demmer says:

:-) Then let’s count on the mail gods to get it there on time! If you don’t receive it today for some unforeseen reason you can write me at robert [dot] demmer [at] jetbrains [dot] com and I will try and help.

  14. Aaron says:

Any idea when R# 8 will be officially released? I don’t want to purchase it if I don’t get an upgrade or renewal when a new version is coming soon.

    • Robert Demmer says:

Hello Aaron. ReSharper 8 is expected to be officially released in Q3 of this calendar year. Here are some buying options:

      1. pay $99 now, use R#7 Full and don’t upgrade
      2. pay $99 now, use R#7 Full and upgrade to 8 for an additional $119, which comes to $218
3, wait until v8 is available and pay $199 once

The second option is $19 more expensive but it allows you to get started right away and have an additional 3 months of using ReSharper. Hope this helps.

      • Aaron says:

The site says its $129 for the R#7 Full and then it will still be another $119 in 3 months. That makes it $48 for an extra 3 months.

I might as well stick to the R# 8 EAP until the final release and then pay once.

  15. Michael says:

Does the PyCharm IDE also include WebStorm features (like Angular.js, Node.js support)? I would much rather buy PyCharm than having to settle for WebStorm and not being able to do any django/python devlepment.

  16. Kurt says:

I may have missed it but are the licenses stackable?

  17. Sean says:

I’m getting a 500 error on the element5 payment page. I got the same error this morning when I tried. No confirmation emails received, so I’m assuming it failed.

Oh, I hope I haven’t bought two licenses!

    • Robert Demmer says:

      Hi Sean,

Sorry for the problem you are experiencing. If the payment went through you should have received a confirmation email. You will also receive your license key via email. Check your spam filter to make sure it is not there.

If two purchases went through don’t stress about it. Our team will be happy to help you sort out any issues. To check the status of your possible purchases :-) , send an email to Good luck and if you need anything else please feel free to write here.

  18. PrzemekO says:

I still not sure about your sale 😉 Is it right percent? Two months ago you had “dooms day” promotion with discount 75%. We all were waiting on end of the world (which didn’t come). And now when we have chance to save it by helping with brasilian forests you proposed a discount 50%. I think that it should be opposite.

PS My wife said that you pice of software is to expesive 😉 I will have to wait till next doom days promotion.

    • Robert Demmer says:

      Hello PrzemekO.

You are correct that we held a Doomsday sale four months ago on December 20th, 2012 for 75% of our products. That sale however was for 24 hours only. This Earth Day Celebration is up to 50% OFF for 1 week so it has the potential to reach more people and help the Atlantic Forest of Brazil. While we don’t have a crystal ball to see into the future, there will not likely be a 75% OFF sale in the foreseeable future. Thank you for considering our software and we hope your wife reconsiders :-)

  19. tpc says:

thx for the discount on IntelliJ IDEA 12.1 – maybe now i have enough to convince my boss :)

I’ve purchased the IntelliJ IDEA 😀

+1 for adding upgrades to the sale

  23. virgilio says:

    Hola 😀

If I buy WebStorm Personal License 50%off today, do I have to buy the annual renewal every year?

  24. Jens says:

Took the chance to get a copy of WebStorm, with a License for Visual Studio, it might be doubtful that I will actually ever use it, but hey I already had a ReSharper License, a shame that Upgrades wasn’t included in the campaign…

  25. Si says:

Can’t order my copy , problem with processing
Have contacted sales, awaiting reply anyone else got this problem

    • Jay Brown says:

I am not seeing the discount during checkout at any point (here or e-comm site). So I am reluctant to purchase…

      • Maxx Daymon says:

I am seeing the discount on the “Licensing and Upgrades” page, but when I click “Buy Now” the full price is reflected in the cart.

        • Juraj Plavcan says:

Yep, it looks like the offer expired at around midnight Sydney LT :) I was about to buy R#, but I guess I waited too long :(

          • Robert Demmer says:

Juraj, you didn’t wait to long if you buy right now. If you come online later in the day please write to and point to your comment on this post and they will be able to help you.

      • Robert Demmer says:

Jay, you didn’t wait to long if you buy right now. If you come online later in the day please write to and point to your comment on this post and they will be able to help you.

    • Robert Demmer says:

Si, there was a temporary problem with the cart. If you are online now, please try again. If you come online later in the day please write to and point to your comment on this post and they will be able to help you.

  26. Mami says:

I tried to purchase pycharm, bit offer is no longer available?

  27. Mariano says:

Does the offer has expired in USA ?

  28. Eduardo says:

Although PhpStorm shows 59€ when I purchase it the price in the form is 89.10€ :(

  29. Daniel says:

Had trouble with the cart and now it seems I missed out while its only 11:30 PM here :(
Any chance to help me out on a Personal License for IDEA?

    • Maxx Daymon says:

Per the message above, they appear to have chosen UTC+10/Sydney as their cutoff timezone, so for the vast majority of customers, the sale effectively ended on the 21st (It’s not even 3pm yet in California)

Annoyingly, the web site is still promoting the sale which apparently ended almost 8 hours ago.

    • Amr Mostafa says:

I’m in the same boat as yours

  30. Maxx Daymon says:

Jetbrains just tweeted me, they said it was an error in the cart, and the discounts are now reflected. I just tried and it’s discounted again..

Now I’m checking out. Thanks @jetbrains

  31. Eugene says:

Unfortunately, I was overcharged $100. I missed this thread and bought IntelliJ IDEA during the cart error thinking the discount would be applied upon purchase. Unfortunately, my credit card shows it was charged the full $199 amount :(

  32. Eduardo says:

Now it works, already purchased it!

  33. Mariano says:

    Working :) !!!!

  34. Lou says:

I was charged full price for PhpStorm, can customer service contact me please?

  35. Juraj Plavcan says:

It worked for me as well even today! I bought R#. Thanks, JetBrains!

  36. Reza Shah says:

Too bad, i always late to the party.
First i missed the dooms day sale ( my boss were very exited about the news, until i realized it’s done already).
Now i missed the earth day sale :(
I’m using the community version on IntellijIdea which is great software.

  37. Cheryl says:

What an awesome way to get trees planted and help our planet.

    • Robert Demmer says:

Thank you Cheryl for taking the time to let us know you like the idea. Stay tuned for more information on this next week.

  38. Too expensive says:

RubyMine is far too expensive relative to both Netbeans and Eclipse. I could see $20/yr but $99? DIAF

Even with Oracle dropping official Ruby support, Netbeans is still superior as a Ruby IDE over RubyMine.

At least with the Linux version all you have to do is delete /home/name/.RubyMine50 and you get 30 more days, so it is actually free but still not worth the effort to type the rm command

    • Tatiana Vasilyeva says:

We’re glad you found an IDE that works for you, although we do not think there is IDE superior to RubyMine out there.

As to the price, it is not 99/year. The license is permanent and includes year of free updates.

And yes, there is always a way to use products without buying but we believe our users may decide for themselves on how to deal with the tools that help them to earn their own money.

  39. Deepak says:

When are you guys having your next sale? I so want to buy PyCharm.

  41. John Morris says:

Would it be possible to get on a mailing list, that would notify us when a sale happens?

I plan on making a second IntelliJ purchase for myself (separate from a personal purchase I made a few years ago), so I obviously do not want to pay full price – it seems to go on sale every few months or so (I’ve been monitoring prices on and off over the past two years and seen sales at Easter 2012, Doomsday 2012, April 2013, etc).

It would only seem fair to give better notice to loyal developers/followers, as we may not always have the change to check twitter feeds or the website. I recommend this IDE to almost everyone I meet…

    • Eugene Toporov says:

Hi John, yes this is correct, there are sales sometimes. The best way however is to monitor the product blog and twitter/facebook, I think.
As to a separate license you plan to purchase, I just want to make sure you know that you can use your license on several computers.

      • John Morris says:

Yes, I’ve been a loyal customer for several years – the license does work on several computers, but I want to run my software on two computers at the same time – thus the desire for a second license…

  42. dave says:

Its too bad that the sale is only valid for new personal license purchases and does not include upgrades.

  43. Pietro Menna says:

    no more specials this year?

    • Robert Demmer says:

Hello Pietro. There are no sales at the moment but that doesn’t mean that there won’t be any this year. We don’t announce sales in advance. Thank you for your support and understanding.
