JetBrains at the ICPC World Finals in Luxor, Egypt

The 46th and 47th ICPC World Finals, hosted in Luxor, Egypt, were truly special. For the first time ever, two World Finals – 2021/22 and 2022/23 – were held back to back. This unique setup was due to multiple postponements, making it a long-awaited event. With over 260 teams from top universities worldwide, it became the largest World Finals in ICPC history.

Our booth, set on the scenic Nile shore, became a hub for engaging with participants. We talked about JetBrains tools and activities tailored for educators and learners. Attendees tackled our Kotlin Challenge, achieving some impressive results. Interested? You can try it too – find a bug in the solutions linked below, with QR codes providing the problem statements.

On stage, we gave an overview of JetBrains products and held a unique blind-coding challenge. Former ICPC World Champions and famous competitive programmers tourist, ecnerwala, Egor, and pashka demonstrated the art of problem-solving under pressure and the power of Kotlin in action in a format where one participant has only a keyboard, and the other has only a monitor. Team from Neapolis University Pafos

We were especially proud to support the team from Neapolis University Pafos, marking the first time a team from Cyprus reached the ICPC World Finals. Coached by our colleague Niyaz Nigmatullin, they earned their spot by placing second in the European SEERC regional qualifiers. Competing alongside the world’s best was a proud moment for both Neapolis University and JetBrains.
