PyCharm 2.7.3

Posted on by Dmitry Jemerov

We’ve finally released PyCharm 2.7.3, probably the last bugfix update from the 2.7.x branch of PyCharm. The release notes include many fixes both in the Python-specific features of PyCharm, in the underlying platform and in the Web development support (both CoffeeScript and TypeScript received a good share of fixes).

The build is available for download, and you can also use the patch-based upgrade to upgrade from PyCharm 2.7.2 or 2.7.3 RC without a full reinstallation.

And as for what’s coming up next – please stay tuned for the start of PyCharm 3.0 EAP!

Looks like the Django string-based ForeignKeys still falsely show up as “Unresolved reference”, as per http://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/PY-2980

This was reported over two years ago, and it’s a pretty big annoyance to keep having most of our models fields fail inspection. Any chance this will get some attention?

It will, but most likely you’ll need to wait until PyCharm 3.0 to get the fix.

Right after upgrading I started getting false syntax errors all over the place. Example:

When I select all, ctrl+slash to make the entire file a comment, then uncomment, the errors go away:

But the file remains stuck in “Performing code analysis” mode. Commenting and uncommenting only the block of code with the false syntax error doesn’t get rid of the error.

This is happening repeatedly. How can I downgrade?

Before you downgrade, please try File | Invalidate Caches. Most likely this will resolve the issues you’re seeing.

That seemed to work, I haven’t seen any recurrences yet. Thanks.

I had the same problem. I guess this simple solution just saved me some hours. Thank you.

So, any way there can be a 2.7.4 that fixes the block caret bug? It’s been there for months and the bug has almost 10 votes now. 🙂

I don’t think that a fix for this problem alone would be a sufficient reason for us to release 2.7.4. If other major issues come up, we’ll try to roll in the block caret fix as well.
