What’s next: YouTrack Roadmap 2019 Q3 & Q4
Hi everyone,
This year we’ve released two major updates for YouTrack. It’s time to share our vision for what lies ahead.
Redesigned Issue List
We continue to work on the new issue list page. We have already released it earlier as an experimental feature and implemented a lot of improvements thanks to your feedback. Apart from what is already done, before the feature becomes public, we plan to add a new sidebar and an ability to create reports.
Reactions
Emoji reactions are cool, everyone loves them! We want to add them to the comments section, so you can quickly react to your colleagues’ comments, images, and so on.
Knowledge base pages
In future YouTrack versions, we plan to add pages that you can use as a project knowledge base. There you would be able to add text or images, create sub-pages, and store all the necessary information about your projects. You’ll also be able to manage permissions to secure access to valuable information.
Other features that we plan to work on include:
- JT-5982 – Ability to specify several groups when limiting access/sharing.
- JT-44622 – Improvements related to markdown.
- JT-22980 – Configure custom fields visibility per user group.
- JT-32837 – Plugin for Confluence Cloud.
- JT-18173 – Official Zapier application.
- JT-44994 – Integration with Gogs.
- Bundled JDK 11 for YouTrack Distributions.
- Push notifications for YT Mobile on Android.
We hope this roadmap includes the features you’ve voted for. Please note that as usual, our roadmap is just a projection. We are agile and can change some features or the way they are implemented.
We really appreciate your feedback, so please share your thoughts about our roadmap in the comments below. To get the latest updates, subscribe to our blog and follow us on Twitter.

July 31, 2019You guys a few years can’t resolve the issue with formatting unbuffered code in pug(jade) files… what’s happened?

July 31, 2019Hello Greg, thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately, at the moment we can’t provide any estimate on the fix for this issue. Sorry.

August 3, 2019I am not sure about why we can’t create new plugin on Youtrack but what could be good is to be improve the workflow to add more interactivity to other application and add some events to it when routes are called like for example the githook, so like this, we can update our cards from it (for example) and worflows should be better than ever with something that “easy” to put in place.

August 5, 2019Hello, thank you for your suggestions. Currently, we have a similar feature request that you can vote for https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/JT-19028.
Geri Langlois says:
August 7, 2019I really love the work you’re planning on the knowledge base pages. Any chance they can be released soon as beta or experimental feature?
Natasha Katson says:
August 7, 2019Sure, as most of the big features, this one will be released as experimental first. We don’t have any estimates though, but we will announce it as soon as it’s ready.
Geovani Martinez says:
August 20, 2019When setting up new users it would be nice to have a “login as this user” button to preview what the user will see and also catch some access errors. This would avoid many of the “I don’t have access to this, I don’t see that” support emails. Knowing the account is configured right from the start would be magical.
Max says:
October 2, 2019I must tell you that one of the reasons that issue JT-44994 got so much upvotes is because I really wanted this feature, so wrote a motivation post on Gogs community website. I think about 30+ of upvotes is because of that.
I stoped myself using Gogs because it has weak support for big projects (It simply crashes under load). Now I use GitLab.
Kfir says:
October 3, 2019Just to be clear, there will not be a Jetbrains-Confluence-like application?
YouTrack will simply interact with Confluence?
Natasha Katson says:
October 3, 2019Hi! We are working on functionality that will let you create pages, sub-pages, etc., so it’s similar to Confluence.
Andrew Gula says:
November 1, 2019Is there any way to check status of these changes?
Natasha Katson says:
November 1, 2019Some of the features will be included in the next major release, we don’t have the exact date, but it will happen this year. Stay tuned!
Kfir says:
December 4, 2019Any update regarding this? Has it already been released? 🙂
Natasha Katson says:
December 4, 2019Not yet, but it will be released later this year 🙂
Update: Unfortunately, we had to move the release of this feature to the next release (next year). We apologize for misleading you.
Herby says:
October 19, 2019Hi, are you planning gogs integration in teamcity as well? I like the simplicity of gogs, now installing gitlab (because teamcity has merge request integration), and it is bloated as hell. I would use gogs immediately if I could CI it properly w/ teamcity (and having youtrack issues as well there).
Yegor Naumov says:
October 21, 2019Hi Herby, what kind of support in TeamCity would you like to see for Gogs?
Herby says:
October 21, 2019Pull requests, primarily.

October 21, 2019(and of course, posting the result back so commit / pr is marked with build result)
