JetBrains IntelliJ IDEA 3.0 Wins 2003 Java Developer’s Journal Editors’ Choice Award
June 10, 2003
San Francisco (JavaOne 2003, Booth 1623) – JetBrains, Inc., has been named winner of the influential 2003 Java Developer’s Journal Editors’ Choice Award for IntelliJ IDEA 3.0, the company’s widely praised Java IDE. The magazine’s editors individually nominated products before balloting as a panel on which of the nominees had made a major impact on their own development practices and on the Java community as a whole.
“This is the editor that gets out of my way,” commented J2EE Editor Joe Ottinger about IntelliJ IDEA’s development features. “It’s actually changed how I write code, after being fairly set in my ways about code generation for over a decade. Going to any other editor is a chore for me now.”
An Editors’ Choice Award represents an unbiased evaluation by third-party industry experts. As such, the annual JDJ panel vote is watched closely in the Java developer community. The JDJ panel comprises both editors and contributors to the highly regarded journal, all of them Java experts who are also, as the magazine put it, “active coders in their ‘day jobs.'”
JetBrains is demonstrating IntelliJ IDEA 3.0 and portions of IntelliJ IDEA 4.0, now in development, at Booth 1623, where visitors will receive fully functional evaluation copies of version 3.0 and a detailed 16-page booklet on how developers can benefit from IntelliJ IDEA 3.0 in a variety of environments including Windows, Linux, Unix and Mac OS X.
