WebStorm 11 Public preview, 143.267: fixes

A new WebStorm 11 Public preview build (143.267) is now available for download from our website. On the new Coming in WebStorm 11 page you can find the details about all the new features available in WebStorm 11.

In addition to that we’d like to introduce a simplified configuration for Node.js coding assistance: now you just need to hit Configure in Preferences | Languages and Frameworks | Node.js and npm and WebStorm will create and enable a Node.js Сore library using your Node.js installation.

The full list of fixed issues is as usual available in the release notes. You can use a patch update from the previous EAP build (143.88). WebStorm 11 Public preview doesn’t require a valid license and is available for free.

Please report your feedback to our issue tracker. To get notifications of new EAP builds as they become available, subscribe to the EAP channel in Preferences | Appearance & Behavior | System Settings | Updates.

Develop with pleasure!

Please try adding react.d.ts (TypeScript definition file) via Preferences | Languages and Frameworks | JavaScript | Libraries – Download… as a JavaScript library, that should improve coding assistance for React.

this one still reproducible on my Webstorm https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-145788 This is really annoying, cannot use the IDE with syntax highlighting enabled. Only works in Power Save mode. https://www.dropbox.com/s/roy8h3ym0n4x1q7/Screenshot%202015-10-19%2022.28.29.png?dl=0

Can I please ask you to leave the comment in the issue and ideally a CPU snapshot. That way you’ll be able to talk directly with the developers responsible. Thank you!

On a New Project Dialog -> Node js
    please add options:
    1) create blank Node js app ( only node_modules folder and server.js file )
    2) for express generator please add option to create a project without templating engine
    ——–
    3) Generally when creating a Node js project it would be perfect to have a dialog/form for packgae.json right at creation time. So that one could select packages that he definitely will start from and/or provide eneral project info like author/webpage/version( could be set globally and auto-filled here allready )

    That would be awesome

    • Sergey Simonchik says:

      1) Please watch/vote/comment here https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/WEB-12988
      2) “Node.js Express App” generator employs express-generator under the hood to create a new express project. IIUC, express-generator doesn’t allow to create a project without templating engine, so it cannot be fixed in WebStorm.
      3) I’m thinking of intelligent completion in package.json right in the editor. Will it cover your use cases?

      • Mike says:

        ad 1) ??

ad 2) That’s a known fact…hopefully express-generator will provide such option in near future than it will be nice

ad 3) If You mean something that is allready in Visual Studio than it’s very helpfull but doesnt cover my use case :)

        • Sergey Simonchik says:

          1) It seems that this issue is relevant to your request (basic Node.js project generator). If it’s so, you can provide your feedback there or vote for it. If no, please file a separate issue in the https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issues/WEB.
          3) I could be wrong, but isn’t filling dialog/form requires the same effort/time as editing package.json with intelligent completion? JFYI: there is “File | New…” action (Alt+Insert) that allows to add package.json to a selected directory.
