ReSharper Interactive Tutorials get an update

As you may remember, along with ReSharper 2016.3 we released a special plugin entitled “ReSharper Tutorials.” In brief, it’s a plugin with a set of interactive ReSharper tutorials. Here’s how it works:

  • When you launch a tutorial, a sample solution is loaded.
  • The tutorial guides you through a number of steps, each illustrating a particular feature. The plugin automatically checks whether you have performed the actions described at each step.
    ReShareper Tutorials. Automatic Steps

As we released ReSharper 2017.1, the plugin also got updated to version 0.9.9. What’s in this update?

  • A new “What’s New in ReSharper 2017.1” tutorial. It will guide you through the main ReSharper features for C# brought by v2017.1.
  • User interface improvements that include a new UI theme and an ability to go to the next step by pressing Tab instead of clicking the Next Step button (in cases where a step doesn’t imply automatic control of user actions.)

A short reminder on how to install and run the plugin:

  1. Go to ReSharper | Extension Manager, search for “Tutorials” and install the plugin. The latest stable version is 0.9.9. Don’t forget that ReSharper plugins are version-dependent, meaning you can install and run ReSharper Tutorials 0.9.9 ONLY on ReSharper 2017.1.
    ReSharper Tutorials in Extension Manager
  2. Run the plugin via ReSharper | Tutorials….
    Resharper Tutorials menu
  3. Run the desired tutorial with Run Tutorial.
    ReSharper Tutorials Home page

We hope you’ll find time to give the updated plugin a try as it’s probably the easiest way to find out what’s new in ReSharper 2017.1, as well as to learn essential ReSharper stuff. As they say, “a little knowledge with some practice is better than much knowledge with no practice.”

I’d love to try this extension but it’s stuck on “Loading…” when I open it.

Might be because I’m behind a corporate firewall.

      Hi Anthony,
could you please try clearing ReSharper cache before running a tutorial and write here in the comments if it works for you? ReSharper > Options… > Environment > General > Clear caches

You could try the 0.9.10 version of the plugin. It contains the fix that should help.

    I have another problem.
I installed Resharper with style cop plugin.
Right now code cleanup is not aviable , when I click clean code nothing happens also when I try options ->code cleanup a tab page with code clenup settings is empty.
I clicked later this button with “reset code settings to make them compatible with style cop” , but without luck.

When I uninstall a style cop plugin a code cleanup works correctly but I see 11000 warnings.

    What should I do :
    a ) pray
    b) renistall windows
    c) remove all c# projects and start coding with java script

I don’t have any help for your problem, sorry. But I will say that if you start coding in Javascript, you will go from having one problem to having two.

As a wild guess, check if a StyleCop update is available (I think it was updated yesterday). Problems with similar symptoms in the past usually went away after installing StyleCop updates.
