What’s next: YouTrack Q1 & Q2 Roadmap

Hi everyone!

Last year we released 4 major versions of YouTrack, and delivered features that will help you be more productive, organized, and make your work process smoother. 2019 is here and we are very happy to share with you our plans for the first half of the year. Since we are all following agile practices, remember the plans may change.

Redesigned Issue List

We will continue to work on a new version of the Issue List page. A lot has been done already, but there is still work to do. As we do for any other major feature, we will release it as an experimental feature first, so we can get as much feedback and iron out as many creases as possible before we announce it publicly.

Custom Localization

YouTrack is officially localized to 5 languages, but our users are spread all over the world. To make YouTrack available in as many languages as possible, we will add a custom localization feature allowing anyone to add their own language and translate it. These translations will be done on the localization platform – Crowdin, here you can join the translations provided by community members or you can create your own. As soon as the language is added in Crowdin, it will appear in the language preferences settings in YouTrack.

Ability to customize the fields on the cards on an Agile Board

Currently, it is possible to use the YouTrack browser extension to tweak the cards on an Agile Board. Sometimes this might not be enough or you simply don’t want to use an extension at all. That’s why we are adding a feature that will let you customize the visibility and presentation of the fields on the cards on the board.

Recent Activity widget

We’ll add a widget so you can check recent activities in your YouTrack instance. This gives you an alternative to checking your YouTrack notifications that you receive by email.

Fully supported new REST API

In YouTrack 2018.3, we announced that we have started to gradually publish new REST API resources and methods. In 2019, we are going to release REST API not as EAP, but as a fully supported release-quality feature. After the release of the new REST API, we will take steps to switch off the old methods, it will be all finished in approximately a year.
