We at JetBrains love talking to developers, be it our users or not. Partly it is because most of us are developers too. But also because it is crucial for us to understand our users as best we can, to know what worries them and what makes them happy.

That’s one of the reasons we attend close to a hundred of events worldwide every year—to talk with you face to face. That’s also why we have many channels of feedback where our users can tell us anything related to our products.

But we still want more.

Our line of products for developers and teams includes more than 20 products and supports all of the top languages and technologies. Close to 4 million developers use our tools today. We think this places us right in the middle of the developer ecosystem.

Developer Ecosystem Survey_250x250To take a better look at this ecosystem, we’ve just started something new: Developer Ecosystem Survey.

We plan to run it regularly so we can better understand what’s going on in our world, and get a true feel of it. Once completed, we will share the results to help us, you and everyone make informed decisions when choosing a tool or technology. Our goal is to attract developers from everywhere (the survey is available in 13 languages), including users of all IDEs or editors, as we want to get the whole picture which is as accurate as possible.

So, let your voice be heard! Complete our survey and get a chance to win some cool prizes, too!

And make sure to share it to your friends and colleagues.

The survey should take you about 15-20 minutes to complete.

After accidentally hitting the back button on the browser and then reloading the page, you get the message “You have already completed this survey”. I haven’t provided any meaningful answer 🙁

      Hi Dejan,
Unfortunately, this happens sometimes. Because in our surveys we prevent duplicates with a browser cookie, allowing for one response per computer. Please try to open the link in incognito mode or clean your browser data. If this doesn’t help, please let me know and I’ll send you a separate link.

Quote from the Survey Terms and Conditions:

    8. By entering the survey you grant the organizer permission to process all entries for its marketing purposes for the duration of five (5) years and publish your name and your country residence in any and all publicity regarding the outcome of the survey, published in any medium, in the event that you win one of the prizes.

Don’t you think this is a little excessive? I assume you are conducting this survey in order to gather some data that should help you improve your business, i.e. sell more products. Why do you need this privacy waiver?

Hi Developer who does not like this privacy waiver!

These clauses are standard for both our online surveys as well as those that take place at conferences and events. At times we publicly publish the winners of prizes on our blogs or other medium. This clause is to cover these situations. Nonetheless, we will revisit the duration and if you feel that there’s something we can clear up in the clause, please let us know and we’ll be happy to evaluate.
