YouTrack Now With Timesheets

Read this post in other languages:

YouTrack 2021.3 comes with Timesheets, a major new time-tracking feature that makes it easier than ever to track, manage, and report time spent on tasks and projects. We’ve also added GitLab to the import wizard and fully localized YouTrack into three more languages.
We are now discontinuing the legacy REST API, so please make sure all your custom integrations are migrated to the new REST API. Read on to learn more about the new release!

Timesheets

Timesheets in YouTrack provide an easy way to view and manage work items (time tracking entries) for individual assignees, teams, and projects. The People tab displays a selected user’s work items organized in a calendar view. The Projects tab displays interactive timesheet reports for your projects.

People

This tab provides you with an overview of an individual user’s activities. Now all the recorded work activity of any user can be reviewed in just one click.

Select a username in the dropdown to check all work items from different projects and time periods for any of your teammates, all on one page. Use this tab to review and manage your own activity by adding new work items or editing existing ones. Switch between weeks and months and use filters to display the work items you need to view.

Projects

The projects tab contains several timesheet reports. You can add new timesheet reports for single or multiple projects, switch between per-issue and per-user views, and group records by custom fields. You can add multiple timesheet reports to track, for example, the progress of your team across several projects, or to track the progress of multiple teams to get a big-picture view of what is going on in your company.

Import from GitLab

YouTrack already provides you with the ability to migrate your issues from Jira, RedMine, GitHub, and other issue trackers. We’ve added one more option to the import wizard, so now you can migrate your issues, projects, and users from GitLab to YouTrack. You can also configure continuous imports from GitLab to YouTrack.

Multilingual YouTrack

In addition to the current languages (English, Russian, German, French, Japanese, and Spanish), YouTrack is now fully localized into Korean, Simplified Chinese, and Brazilian Portuguese too. These official localizations are managed by JetBrains and will be kept updated with every future release of YouTrack.

Administrators can specify the default YouTrack interface language, while individual users can choose their own language in their profile settings.

Legacy REST API discontinued

The legacy YouTrack REST API is now discontinued. Any integrations that continue to rely on the legacy REST API may no longer work as expected with YouTrack 2021.3 or later.

We have contacted all vendors of third-party integrations with YouTrack to make them aware of this change. You can find more details about the legacy REST API discontinuation in this blog post
